Meet Dr. Drew Sanderson

Dr. Sanderson developed an affinity for medicine early, and upon entering college he elected to get a Bachelor of Science degree in respiratory therapy with a minor in chemistry. After graduating from Texas State University with honors, he was accepted to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He graduated medical school in the top 20% of his class and obtained a residency in the highly competitive field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Immediately after completing medical school Dr. Sanderson volunteered to serve in the United States Army Reserve and has served proudly for 13 years, including one combat deployment to Iraq.  He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Sanderson completed his surgical internship at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed his otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is board-certified in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and his intricate understanding of the facial and nasal anatomy, provided by otolaryngology, prepared him well for his plastic surgery training.

After completing his training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, he continued his training with a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He chose the University of Nebraska for its strong aesthetic surgery program. During his plastic surgery residency, Dr. Sanderson acquired two years of intensive plastic surgery instruction with a focus on cosmetic/aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, wound surgery, and reconstruction of defects left from skin cancer excisions.

Dr. Sanderson is board-certified in plastic surgery and otolaryngology and has more than 13 years of medical and surgical experience, but his personal and approachable demeanor and genuine care for his patients is what separates him.

Meet Dr. Anthony Braswell

Dr. Braswell, a North Texas native, was born and raised in the suburbs of Fort Worth. He graduated from Grapevine High School in 1993. After high school, he followed his father’s footsteps and attended Auburn University on an Army ROTC scholarship. He deferred his active-duty time to attend medical school at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. There he met his wife, Lezli, who is now a family physician in Flower Mound. After medical school, Dr. Braswell completed a residency in general surgery at the Army’s flagship medical center in San Antonio. During his general surgery residency, he decided to specialize in plastic and reconstructive surgery, but the attacks on 9/11 changed the course of his career. He spent the next ten years as a general surgeon, primarily focused on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. His primary concentration was optimizing the effectiveness of Forward Surgical Teams on his four combat deployments. The FST is the Army’s surgical asset positioned closest to the battlefield, designed to maximize the survival of the injured soldier in the “golden hour” after injury. After the United States pulled out of Iraq, Dr. Braswell entered a 3-year plastic and reconstructive surgical residency in New York. The Army then assigned him to Fort Cavazos, TX, where he created the first plastic and reconstructive surgery service at the world’s largest military installation. Dr. Braswell retired from active duty after 20 years of service. He then completed an ASAPS-endorsed aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship in Charlotte, NC, before transitioning into civilian plastic surgery. Dr. Braswell moved to Flower Mound in 2023 and is proud to join fellow Army Veteran Dr. Drew Sanderson at Flower Mound Plastic Surgery.

In his spare time Dr. Braswell spends time raising teenage baseball players, crafting artisan coffee, cooking with fire (central Texas BBQ style), college football tailgating, wake surfing, and talking with anyone about cars and trucks. During his military career, he and his wife have started multiple bible studies to mentor medical students and young married couples. They currently attend church in Flower Mound, TX.
