Eyelid Rejuvenation – Blepharoplasty

Eyelid Rejuvenation – Blepharoplasty – Almost no where in the body do the signs of aging become more obvious than around the eyes. With time the eyebrows begin to droop, excess eyelid skin forms, and fat around the eye begins to protrude in the upper and lower eyelids. While in the youthful eye, there remains a fullness over the eyelids with a smooth transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek. With a well done blepharoplasty this youthful appearance is restored.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty surgery includes an incision placed in the eyelid skin crease with excision of the excess skin and fat of the upper eyelid helping to restore a smoother, refreshed look to the eyes. Alternatively, lower eyelid blepharoplasty should not involve much removal of excess lower eyelid fat but more of a repositioning of the fat to recreate the full, youthful look and smooth transition between the eyelid and cheek. This repositioning of the fat rather than removal helps to avoid a “hollowed out” appearance that can occur with lower eyelid blepharoplasty. If you are considering undergoing blepharoplasty then make an appointment with Dr. Sanderson to discuss the surgical options.
